Overview
This course is to provide you with the fundamentals of WHS responsibilities of workers in promoting a safe workplace. It describes the process of how to effectively resolve WHS issues and explains the risk management approach.

- WHS legislation fundamentals
- WHS responsibilities for employees
- Hazard Management
- Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment & Risk Control
- Risk Control to include reference to Elimination, Engineering, Substitution, Administrative, PPE
- Accident / Incident Reporting
- Electrical Hazards
- Emergency response procedures
- Communicating WHS issues
- Fatigue Management
- First Aid
- Hazardous substances (including reference to Safety Data Sheets)
- Noise (protection)
- Safe Work Method statements
- Safe Manual Handling (including slips, trips & falls)
- Workspace ergonomics
- Working at Heights
Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Explain relevant WHS legislation and responsibilities
- Identify Hazard Management process
- Respond and react appropriately to an emergency
- Change your workspace so it is ergonomically appropriate
- Understand safe manual handling in the workplace
- Identify importance of Safe Work Method Statements
- Report incidents or accidents
- Identify how to manage fatigue
- Understand basic first aid (e.g. DR ABCD)
- Take safety precaution to minimize noise in workspace and understand the effects of ‘Noise induced hearing loss’ (NIHL)
- Identify how to work safely at heights
